My name is De’Ann Johnson. I am originally from Southern California where being fit and healthy was part of every day life.I can’t remember ever not playing a sport while growing up. Soccer, softball, volleyball, tennis there was a sport for every season. When I wasn’t at practice I was out jumping my bike, skateboard or roller blades…or to my mothers dismay practicing flips off my rooftop onto my mattress below. One would never know I died three times at birth and became the first baby in the U.S. to survive a complete blood transfusion. I also had one leg 3 inches shorter than the other, two hernia surgeries before I was five years old and suffer from severe asthma. We are all faced with challenges some time in our own lives. But they don’t define us. I am a survivor. I never accept the word can’t.

I am passionate about life and all it has to offer. Being fit and healthy enriches the quality of life. This is the legacy I want to pass on to my children. It troubles me to see so many men, women and children struggle with obesity. This is not the legacy any parents wants to pass down to their children. And yet, something they have the power to change.

This is why I became a certified fitness professional over 20 years ago. It is very rewarding to help people achieve fitness goals they never dreamed possible and improve their quality of life.
